I Break The News

Hello dear readers! Welcome back. This adorable little saw-whet baby owl, was found in the Norwegian spruce that was chopped down in upstate NYC to become this years Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. The baby owl reportedly traveled to the city center inside the tree for 2 days and a total of about 170 miles. After it was found by the tree workers, it was taken in by nonprofit rescue Ravensbeard Wildlife Center , where it received food and fluids to recover. Once at the new place, the cute little fellow (plot twist: turns out it is a girl!) received the name 'Rockefeller' and will be released back into the wild shortly, after being checked out by a vet. In other news: After the unveiling of this years Christmas decoration highlight in the city center of NYC, people already joked about it on Twitter, saying this tree represents 2020 perfectly. Just because the tree looked 'a little exhausted'.. But the tree did not want to take that lying down, defending itself via t...

We LOVE our planet, nature and the wild but you may have already noticed that while browsing this blog. Somebody who also loves nature and obviously all things floral, is the artist behind this cool idea. His name is Nicolai Tolstyh and today is a good day to discover his work, for example on instagram . This self described journalist, bibliophile, art lover and natural craftsman is based in Russia. If you take a look at his fine and very detailed cutouts, and the final photo result, you can see he is taking the time to find the right match in the background, for the theme of each silhouette individually. All his captions are in Russian and we would be able to tell you more about this artist, if only we would have paid just a little more attention to Russian class back in the day. However. Inspiring idea! all artwork  ©  Nicolai Tolstyh

This morning the hashtag #PizzaRat took over Twitter! What was this about? Just a video posted on YouTube, that shows a NYC subway rat pulling a slice of Pizza down the stairs with all its might! On a side note we want to say - yes NYC subway rats are real and it is not a joyful encounter to meet one of them at night when you and the rat are the only 2 beings on the platform. :) So why is this old news? Because rats love good food and we know that not just since Disney's Ratatouille came out years ago. Remy the lead rat does not only like an amazing meal, he also knows how to create it! #Talented. Based on our experience, yes NYC pizza IS the best pizza we ever had!  If you are in New York, try  Artichoke Pizza at 328 E 14th St . Soo good! We recommend it! :) #RatFREE photos  ©  Disney Ratatouille & Robert Alexandre

Get ready, Halloween is just around the corner! One thing for sure, US pet store  PETCO is well prepared! They have just launched a special BOOTIQUE   on their website, to make it easy for you to find the most amusing costume  for your pet. You can also find this special range in their actual shops. We love animals and we are not sure if they generally enjoy a dress up but we must say, the creativity behind these costumes is definitely   I Break The News  worthy! Based on a TESCO survey, 50% of PETCO customers plan on taking part in Halloween with their pet this year. These pet parents are looking to buy a costume or special Halloween toy for their beloved, furry friend. If you happen to live in the United States, you can bring your pet all dressed up and ready for some special treats, to a  PETCO store on the 25th of October at 2pm . There will be prizes! Please only do it if your pet is willing too. :) all photos...

African Elephant - photo by Doug88888 It makes us so upset that somewhere in another part of the world more than 30.000 Elephants get killed by ruthless  hunters only for their ivory tusks every year. It makes us feel so helpless because we want to do something to rescue the elephants. For some information on what is going on at the moment and options to help we found this: savetheelephants.org . Chocolate - photo by  Denis Kuschter A life without chocolate - oh what a nightmare it would be. There comes a time in every woman's life when chocolate is an absolute MUST!! And yes, many men love chocolate too. Based on the dry weather conditions around the Ivory Coast - cocoa plants' country of origin - a scarcity is expected to hit in the next few years. This or because I ate most of the available chocolate myself already. My apologies. Aged Whiskey - photo by Amy Lloyd Aged Whiskey is the IN Drink of the moment and because the manufacturer...

IKEA just came up with a brilliant idea that we absolutely love! What first started out as a partnership between Home For Hope and IKEA Singapore , has now reached the stores of the Swedish furniture brand in Arizona, USA . Life-sized cardboard cut-outs of shelter dogs are being placed in your potential new kitchen or bedroom. While you are strolling through the showroom, browsing bookshelves and shower curtains, you might realize your home, your family and your couch is not complete without a loyal companion . Each cardboard photo, comes with a code that customers can scan for information about the dog on display. This initiative, is drawing attention to an important issue. Too many dogs are sitting in shelters, locked away from a free life. We hope other countries and popular brands will join this important cause and inspire people to give a loving home to a dog in need . So far, all 6 of the featured dogs in store, have found new homes. For more information ...
